FORGOTTEN BY TIME
In no other Swiss region are customs and traditions still so much a part of daily life as in the Appenzellerland. From the middle of May, the herdsmen in their traditional suits drive the cows up to graze on the mountain pastures. Traditional skirts with cameo ornaments and Milanese shawls are worn at the “Stobete”, the herders’ celebrations accompanied by string music. The most beautiful cow is chosen at the autumn show. Our customs are part of our lives year after year.
