The Tierwis mountain inn is located on the saddle between Graukopf and Grenzkopf, right on the border between Appenzellerland and Toggenburg.

The mountain inn is situated at 2,085 metres above sea level and boasts spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. To the north, the view meanders across the soft hills of the Appenzellerland as far as southern Germany, and looking south, visitors can see the summits of the Alps. The restaurant can seat around 60 people. On a sunny day, another 40 can sit outside, and a total of 50 beds are available for guests who want to stay overnight.
