Mineralbad restaurant
The Mineralbad restaurant is one of the oldest inns in the Appenzell region, and is considered one of the cradles of Appenzell spa tourism.
The Unterrechstein healing spring was first mentioned in a document in 1463. The therapeutic, mineral-rich water has been used for bathing for over 300 years, initially in simple dwellings, then at the Mineralbad inn: first in wooden tubs, and later in tin bathtubs. Following the construction of the Appenzell spa in the 1980s, the Mineralbad restaurant lost its role as a spa destination.
But it has remained a cosy inn, steeped in history. After undergoing a minor rebuild, the Mineralbad restaurant has experienced a new resurgence since Eric Dufeu took over its management along with that of the spa bistro. A small but exquisite food and wine menu comprising seasonal and regional cuisine encourages guests to take their time over their meal.
The restaurant has a spacious seating area for up to 40 people. Up to 12 guests can be served in the traditional Mineralbad-Stübli.
By request, events can also be arranged to take place outside official opening hours.
