Krone Trogen
A bistro, a hall, five rooms. A glass of wine, a concert, an overnight stay. On three floors. Something for everyone.
The five rooms at the Krone Trogen offer a cozy atmosphere and combine the old with the new. The history of the house and the modern spirit of the times are palpable. The Krone is a wonderful starting point for a hike in the Appenzell hills, a visit to the museum with the “Trogner Bähnli” to St.Gallen or a glass of wine in the Krone Bistro.
Anyone traveling by bike or rucksack or taking the Appenzell Railway will experience the special charm of Trogen up close in the Krone Bistro.
The bistro is run by dedicated Trogen locals who are passionate about community and lively interaction in the village. The bistro serves sweet and savory snacks, always fresh and crispy.
The Krone Trogen was built in 1727 and is the second oldest house of the Zellweger dynasty still standing on the square. From 1810, the former private house became the “Gasthaus Krone”. The Krone is part of the townscape and is a listed building of national importance.
