Säntis - Schwägalp demonstration cheese dairy

The Schwägalp Alpine Show Dairy is located at the foot of the Säntis massif on the Schwägalp near the Säntisbahn valley station, 1300 m above sea level.

The cheese dairy was built in 1996 by the farmers who bring their cattle to the alp during the summer. Alpine cheese was produced for the first time on the Schwägalp in 1997. All these farmers participated in the construction, which is why it is a cooperative enterprise. In 2012, the cheese dairy was expanded in order to process more milk. Currently, about 52 farmers deliver alpine milk to the cheese dairy during the summer months from May to September. Most of the milk is processed into fine Schwägalp cheese. But raclette cheese, butter, mutschli and goat cheese are also produced. Most of the cheese goes to the wholesalers. The rest is sold in the shop on the Schwägalp, which is open every day from May to October. Come by and enjoy the wonderful products made in our cheese dairy -- the sales team is looking forward to your visit. After all, we contribute a lot to the slogan of the Culinarium label "Enjoyment from the region".
