VIEWS IN EVERY DIRECTION

Hochalp is a popular destination for daytrips and has its own unique charm, especially during the winter. The starting point in the Bruggerenwald forest above Urnäsch can be easily reached by car. The route leads through the forest and then across a range of hills up to Hochalp mountain, a climb of 340 metres. From the top, the views reach across the hills of the Appenzellerland to the Säntis massif. Visitors never tire of the impressive winter landscape. The descent briefly follows the Schlittelstrasse sleighing trail at Alp Nasen and then takes hikers back to the starting point through Bruggerenwald forest.

The tour leads through the southern Appenzell Hinterland game sanctuary. Please adhere to the relevant rules at all times. You will find more information on the information panel at the start of the trail.
