With sweeping views from the hochalp
Snowshoe enthusiasts are not the only ones who will enjoy this excursion to the Hochalp. It also represents an attractive, scenic hike in the Alpine foothills in the warmer months of the year.
Easy at first before gradually becoming steeper, the ascent starts at Bruggerenwald Süd car park and leads up to the Rossmoos. Cross Rötelbach stream and walk up the tarmac road towards Alp Nasen. After the last bend, a spellbinding view opens up in front of you. The Swiss flag of the Hochalp mountain inn beckons from afar. The view from the highest point at 1,530 m above sea level has to be earned – and once you’ve arrived, you won’t be able to get enough of it, as you gaze out over the Säntis massif, the Churfirsten and the Glarus Alps. Benches and tables invite you to linger outside. Inside, the cosy mountain inn is reminiscent of a bygone era. The menu is authentic and the sausage and salsiz are home-made by the host himself. After recharging your batteries, head downhill on the same path, still on the Rossmoos, and follow the tarmac road back to the starting point at Bruggerenwald car park.
