This long excursion is ideal for water lovers with plenty of stamina. It’s often easier to go through the water than over the rocks. The walk starts just above the old Tobel bridge in Hundwil. At the large rock formation at the mouth of Stösselbach stream, there is a steep little path that leads towards Saum in Herisau. This is the only option for leaving the route, otherwise you have to wait until you reach Kubel near St. Gallen. There, a hiking trail takes you to the bus stop or to Bruggen railway station.
