Learn many fascinating facts about the forests and meadows of the region.

The Gais forest experience area is embedded in diverse forests and flowering litter meadows. The aim is to bring adults and school classes closer to these habitats with their plants and animals, their functions, management and development with a lot of practical relevance. The forest experience room can be used between May and October and in the evenings until 21:00.

Ideal for schools, families, clubs or companies - a wide range of activities is available:
1. forest house with tables and benches, toilet, fire and water point, cooking utensils, teaching materials, games.
2. guided tours of about one hour by forest educators / experts on a selected nature theme such as trees, shrubs, forest animals, birds, insects, sustainable forest management, functions of the forest
3. "Nature trail of the senses" with 50 panels and objects, barefoot path, forest xylophone
For schools and youth organisations from Appenzell Ausserrhoden, the Bertold Suhner Foundation covers the costs of renting the forest house, guided tour and travel to and from the forest by public transport. For schools and youth organisations from the cantons of Appenzell Innerrhoden and St. Gallen, partners will cover the costs of renting the forest house and the guided tour.

Costs for renting the forest house: half day CHF 100.00 / full day CHF 150.00 (members CHF 50.00 / CHF 100.00)
Cost of guided tours: flat rate CHF 80.00
