Audio tour of the textile village
An audio tour is available allowing individual travellers to trace the footsteps of the embroiderers and weavers of Rehetobel.
Join us on a guided tour lasting around one hour and take a journey back in time to the era of weavers, embroiderers and factory owners. Find out why houses for people working from home and in smaller factories were built here and listen to the wealth of stories that contemporaries of weavers, embroiderers and factory owners have to tell. You will gain an insight into the history of the local economy, buildings and society.
On www.textildorf.ch you can find a map with audio tracks and images. The starting point is Rehetobel village, at the map panel at the Heidenerstrasse/Dorf turn-off, on the side of the road across from the community hall.
The audio tour can be combined with a hike along the trails that were used by the weavers and embroiderers of old for delivering their wares, for example from Rehetobel via Robach – Chastenloch to Trogen.
