Alpaca Appenzell – drinks, snacks and guided tours

Discover the New World. See these lovely, cute animals for yourself – their mood is infectious!

Alpacas are remarkable for their big eyes, teddy-bear-like appearance and the deep, gentle hum they use to communicate with each other.

Alpaka Appenzell is located at 1,000 metres above sea level on the Route of St. James on Arnig hill.
In addition to the family of 60 alpacas that has lived at the farm since 2004, this place is also home to sows, fattening pigs, bees, cats, a dog and 21 Brown Swiss cows. The farm’s shop, Alparama, has been selling high-quality alpaca products since 2015. See the large selection for yourself when you visit.

A guided tour of the farm gives you an insight into everyday life at Alpaka Appenzell. Meet the animals, listen to the cowbells and the humming of the alpacas while enjoying drinks and snacks. On request, the guide will explain the production process for Terra-Preta animal manure, a nutrient-rich humus that serves as the farm’s own vegetable carbon.

The alpaca farm offers plenty of insights into the work carried out here. The Alpaka Appenzell family looks forward to seeing you there!
