Tourist Information Heiden

A hike in Appenzellerland is absolutely worthwhile in both summer and winter. One particularly beautiful route, which can be done at any time of year, leads from Bühler up to the Hohe Buche. This route is highly recommended at sunrise or sunset. These hours bring magical moments in the mystical twilight with a magnificent view over the hilly landscape between Alpstein and Lake Constance.

The starting point of the hike is at Scheidweg, which is above Heiden and directly on the main road towards Rehetobel. Finally, a short steep path up to the Kaien-Spitz and you are rewarded with a wonderful view from the lake over the wide countryside to the Alpstein. In addition, the cosy barbecue area invites you to linger.

I enjoy setting off from home. Through the cozy hamlet of Frauenrüti over the spectacular suspension bridge - which connects the two Grub - to the Fünfländerblick. From here, I enjoy the wonderful panoramic view over Lake Constance all year round - whether early in the morning or in the evening. On the way back over the hilly landscape and through the beautiful hamlets of Hartmannsrüti and Schwarzenegg, I once again experience the magnificent panorama and the endless expanse of Lake Constance.

On the way from Heiden to Wartensee you will find a wonderful Lake Constance panorama, coupled with hills, bridges and streams to overcome. The 'Bähnli', which runs from Heiden to Rorschach, can be seen from several points along the trail and gives the whole hike its characteristic local charm.
