This cosy mountain inn with a beautiful view of the Alpstein range and the valleys below is located in the heart of popular hiking area amid the idyllic Appenzell Alps.

On the Hochalp, 1530 m above sea level, you can strengthen yourself with a visit to the restaurant and enjoy fantastic views of the Säntis massif, the Churfirsten and the Glarus Alps.

Benches and tables invite you to linger outside. Inside, the cosy mountain inn is reminiscent of grandmother's times. The menu is authentic, the sausage and salsiz are homemade by the landlord. The mountain inn offers simple accommodation in double rooms or mattress dormitories.

The Hochalp mountain inn is open daily from Tuesday to Sunday from May to the beginning of November. From November to April it is open on weekends when the weather is fine (flag is up). If in doubt, you can call Sämi Schmid.

Over New Year's Eve and Old Year's Eve, the mountain inn is closed.

Please note: There is a driving ban from Bruggerenwald. It is only possible to drive up by car in exceptional cases and after consultation with the host couple.
