The impressive building on Gerenstrasse tells the story of the once flourishing textile industry in Appenzell. Built in the 19th century in the classicist style of the manufacturers' houses of the time, it bears witness to the economic importance of the region. On the initiative of a group from the village, the Fabrikantenhaus Foundation was established. The aim was to renovate the building and make it accessible to the general public. The project was completed in fall 2024. Since then, vacation guests have been able to enjoy the special atmosphere of the Fabrikantenhaus far away from the hustle and bustle. The vacation apartments can be booked via the booking platform of the Ferien im Baudenkmal foundation. The Fabrikantenhaus Schwellbrunn also offers flexible rooms, including a well-equipped event kitchen, which can be perfectly adapted for various events for up to 50 people - whether a meeting, workshop or festive occasion.
