MOUNT SÄNTIS AS BACKDROP
From the village centre, the yellow-marked trail leads towards Geisshalden. You walk along the road via Brunnhalden and Harschwendi Ost, then left towards Hörnlipass. You continue around Geisshaldenwald, also known as Weiler Nieschberg. From the tip of the forest wonderful views over the cantonal capital Herisau and as far as St. Gallen open up; when the weather is good they reach as far as Lake Constance. The trail then leads along the edge of the forest on Geisshalde mountain. Unfortunately, the “Frohe Aussicht” restaurant there is currently closed. But you can still take in the one-of-a-kind panorama with views of Mount Säntis. You can then stroll back along the road to the village centre.
