From the Hebrig stop on the Gais-Altstätten line, this route ascends directly to Sommersberg along a wooded ridge. The tour follows the marked hiking trail network (not prepared) via Schwäbrig to the idyllic Gäbrisseeli lake. You can continue on via the road up to the summit of Mount Gäbris. The descent back to Gais is rather steep and leads via Häldeli and Gais hospital. From there, it is only a few minutes’ walk along the main street back to the centre. Hikers using public transport can snowshoe on scenic and tranquil paths from Gäbrisseeli to Landmark (PostBus) or Trogen.
