The first part of this trail is a leisurely warm-up through the hamlet of Grünau. Then the ascent starts, and hikers quickly rack up the altitude metres, first on the road, then via Weiden and through the forest to the Guggeien mountain pastures. The reward for the hard work of getting there is a wonderful view of the village.

Afterwards, the path narrows and leads through a spectacular passage in the rocks as hikers reach the metal summit cross of Spitzli mountain.

The descent back to Urnäsch leads via Petersalp and Grossdürren.
