The Century of the Zellwegers - tours with audio guides

Explore the village of Trogen and its history.

Stone palaces dating from the 18th and early 19th centuries as well as a Baroque church line the main square of Trogen, making it a heritage site of national significance. All the buildings around the square were built on behalf of just one textile-trading family, the Zellwegers.

«The Century of the Zellwegers» offers a diverse exploration of Trogen’s history through audio tracks, texts and images. This is the perfect destination for an excursion in the Appenzellerland and can be combined with a visit to the Grubenmann Museum in the old Teufen armoury.

The tour starts at the washhouse at the Landsgemeindeplatz square. The church and the town hall with its exhibition on the third floor are open Monday to Friday free of charge. Audio guides are available from www.jahrhundertderzellweger.ch. Guided tours for 10 or more people can be booked through the website.
