Here, visitors feel that tradition and old customs are still alive and well. It is this special connection to their homeland that makes the Appenzell people so unique.
This showcase cheese dairy for the world-famous Appenzeller cheese is located in idyllic hilly countryside. Find out why Appenzeller cheese is the most savoury of all cheeses. However, the recipe for its herbal brine will remain top secret! There is something in the air – the aroma of herbs. Create your own herbal mix to take home with you. Listen to the traditional sound of the Appenzellerland. Admire the impressive cheese cellar, where up to 12,500 loaves of cheese are maturing, and take a peek into the cheese vat. View the impressive Alpstein mountains in all their glory. Looking through binoculars, you can experience a virtual 360-degree view.
Using the audio guide, international guests can also immerse themselves in the world of cheese. The guide can be downloaded as an app via the free WiFi on the premises and is available in 8 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
